Update External Link

Hi All,

I have a doubt can we get the existing external link in an object using its name or any other parameter.

Objective: I will pass a name of an external link. if the link exists have to update otherwise have to create a new external link.

To update an existing external link now I have to loop through all the external links on that object. 

Is there any alternatives available please let me know.
